Enabling 2FA on your Pvium Wallet

You must enable 2FA on your Pvium account to ensure that even if someone manages to compromise your email, they cannot execute transactions or export your wallet without your 2FA verification code.

While popular self-custody wallets like Phantom and MetaMask protect your funds via your private keys, they lack built-in 2FA layers to protect your wallet session at the application level. This makes a properly configured Pvium wallet arguably more secure than both Phantom and MetaMask—but there is a catch: it is not active by default, and you must turn it on manually.

By enabling 2FA, you ensure that even if someone manages to compromise your email, they cannot execute transactions or export your wallet without your 2FA verification code.

Please note that loosing your 2FA method/device also means you are permanently locked out of your Pvium account. It is extremely important that you back your 2FA recovery code. e.g. ensure you enable cloud backup on your authenticator app.

Here is exactly how to secure your Pvium wallet in under two minutes.

Step-by-Step: How to Enable 2FA

  1. Navigate to Settings: Open your Pvium app and tap on the More tab.

  2. Find Security: Scroll down until you locate the Security Sections.

  3. Open 2FA Menu: Tap on Two Factor Authentication.

  4. Choose Your Method: Select your preferred verification method:

    • Authenticator App: Recommended for maximum security (e.g., Google Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy).

    • SMS: Please note that SMS verification is only available for phone numbers in the US and Canada.

  5. Complete the Setup: Follow the on-screen instructions to link your device or phone number.

  6. Secure Your Backup: Make sure you write down and back up your security recovery code. If you lose access to your authenticator app or phone number, this backup code is the only way you can regain access to your wallet settings.
